On Being God's Mongol
This morning, there was a special confirmation mass in celebration of our parish fiesta. I was assigned as lector and I got so excited and tense after I heard that it was Bishop Jesse Mercado who was celebrating mass.
His sermon was beautiful! He explained thoroughly the four primary reasons why one receives the sacrament of confirmation.
1) To melt us -- our stubborness and hardened hearts
2) To mold us -- to become better Christians
3) To fill us -- with the power of the Holy Spirit
4) To use us -- as instruments of God
Then he said, that we should always remember that we are God's pencils. Again, he gave us four principles:
1) That just like a pencil, our beauty and purpose lies within us.
2) That just like a pencil, we will go thru life and will be sharpened by our experiences.
3) That just like a pencil, we will only serve our purpose if Someone holds us in His hand. God's loving hand.
4) And most importantly, just like a pencil, MAKE A MARK.
And I went on with my day doing just that. And it feels great!

On One Slick Place
Where can this place be found?
A. Powerplant Mall
B. Alabang Town Center
C. Podium Mall
D. None of the above
The answer is D. This is actually found INSIDE the NESTLE Rockwell
office. We had one of our meetings here last week, with free capuccino
and all. Fabulous ambiance! Great place for a meeting, really.
On Another Coffee Date
Had another fun-filled coffee date with Felips, Nappy and Merwin last
Saturday. Felips, Merwin and I have had complete attendance so far.
Our goal is to have at least one new face every meeting. This time it
was Mr. Big himself. But he had to rush off to another dinner date
with friends so he stayed for only a few minutes.
The three boys who stayed behind had so many insightful things they
shared with me. I was glad they were there. Thanks, guys!
On David & Goliath
Last Saturday at the Araneta, Mr. William "Bogs" Adornado was inducted
in the PBA Hall of Fame alongside PBA greats like Jaworski, Atoy Co,
Philip Cesar, Mon Fernandez, Coach Baby Dalupan, Joe Cantada and a few
more. The ceremony was televised last night and Mama was telling me
how awesome Adornado really was during his PBA stint.
I'm glad I got to pose beside him during the Opening Ceremonies of our
PBA 30th Anniversary Photo Exhibit. He bagged a couple of nice shots
during the PBA Greatest Game. "Walang kupas pa rin siya".
Sidenote: Samboy scored 29 big ones for the TM Greats coached by Jawo.
He would have won MVP honors! If only they won. Caidic took home the
trophy, who led the TM Legends to victory. Coach Baby, who's half
blind already, still proved he had the power and wit. Texted Samboy
congratulating him for a job well done. He said his knees were still
killing him but he's glad the fans enjoyed the game. Kung di ka naman
talaga mabilib sa kanya!
On Rubbing Elbows with an R&B Diva
She's sultry and savvy... and we're not talking about me here, hehehe.
Ashanti walked into the Savannah Room of Discovery Suites looking
composed and ready for the PLDT MYMUSIC Live Chat. She was game to
talk to the 20+ callers who welcomed her to Manila. She said she loved
tropical countries and was looking forward to her big concert at the
Araneta, to the delight of all the MYMUSIC callers.
Our agency was tasked, as always, to monitor and supervise the chat.
Overall, it was a 100% improvement compared to the one of Ja Rule's.
Client was very happy. Lucky for me, the photographer assigned that
day from DDB was Nesty, the one who also took my PR pics for PLDT. So
he sent me this picture as my souvenir.
What he doesn't know is that I got the best souvenir of all...
Ashanti's Evian bottle with matching straw and lipstick mark! Took it
home by sneaking it inside my bag. Hahaha! Will probably have it
framed one of these days...
So anyway, this is little ol' me with Ashanti and Little Sis. Celeb na
celeb ang dating ko! Haha!

On One Weird Encounter
As soon as I stepped in the trike, the driver blurted out, "Ma'am, kayo ba yung nakita ko sa TV nung isang gabi?" I was shocked! So I said, "saang show?" and bingo, he said INSIDER. I had to laugh out loud and eventually confirm his query.
It was the weirdest thing! Who would have thought that this guy would actually recognize me. I am a certified celebrity! And I love it! Hahaha!

On Love and War
Partner reacted to this one favor I asked of him and from then on, I
didn't make the effort to e-mail, text or call. Last Thursday though,
he called me to thank me for some stuff I had sent thru a friend of
ours, Milan, who went to Sing to visit his girlfriend. I still had his
'bilins' sent because I wanted to keep my word and... show him how
mean he was to me. Hehe. Guilt trip.
And it worked. Hahaha! So now, bati na kami. Funny thing was, he had
no idea that I was seriously 'inis' dahil lagi naman kaming aso't
pusa. Anyway, I am SO happy we're back to being Partners again, after
talking for 50+ minutes over the cel! MAY maaaway ulit ako. Hehehe.
Partner, blue tooth ko ha.
On Keeping A Solid Family Tradition
a whole day of fun under the sun with the whole clan. Three of Cui's
friends also joined us and I'm pretty sure they had a grand time. I
couldn't stop eating! We had yummy bihon, grilled bangus and tilapia,
red egg with tomatoes, chicken in oyster sauce, the classic adobo,
pinakbet and indian mangoes with bagoong! Just thinking about it
makes my mouth drool again.
We played 'water soccer' and even my younger cousins and uncles joined
in the fun. It rained at around 3:45 in the afternoon and that was a
blast! Everybody was screaming with delight! It was such a relaxing
day and the water temperature was perfect. We all packed up at around
5:30pm although none of us wanted to get outta the pool yet. Everybody
had a tremendous time and we are all looking forward to next summer
again.
Today, it's back to reality...

On My Big TV Debut (Finally!)
I was able to record it using Slick. And the funny thing was, my friend from Baguio, Kuya Gerry, texted me this morning saying he saw me daw sa TV. Replay I guess nung show. (Hello, Kuya Gerry!)
I love the limelight. Liza, sa uulitin!

On Shattered Dreams
I DO remember when I appeared in this gag show Tropang Trumpo. That was so much fun! My friends Twinkle, Karla, Kathy and I went to the ABC5 studio in friggin' Novaliches to interview some of the stars for a school project. We ended up being extras in one segment. Then we went to Mel and Jay too and ended up being part of the audience. Mama was laughing when she saw me!
But probably my biggest TV moment was when I joined this quiz show when I was in Grade 4. I represented my school and won the daily competition. They had to stack up three more chairs only so I could reach the goddam podium. Hehe. Think the name of the show was Campus Break hosted by Danny Javier of the Apo Hiking Society. That was crazy and if by some miracle I can actually dig up an old file of that, I would hide that betacam in a vault, never to be discovered ever again. Hahaha!
I honestly think I could give Tuesday Vargas a run for her money. But anyway... I will conquer TV in God's perfect time. In the meantime, I have an events plan to write.

On Feeling Like a Celebrity II
This is my kabarkada from college, LIZA REYES, a distinguished
reporter from ABS CBN. She's mostly concentrated on business newsbits.
She was looking for people who had two jobs and luckily, I fit that
description! Aside from the agency, I am also a ballet teacher so she
came over to interview me for her featured story for today.
Feeling ko talaga I was an actress. Hahaha! I had to 'pretend' like I
was working on some stuff with the laptop. Then extra pa si CS and
Faith and the birthday celebrant, Bru. Super showbiz. Our neighbor in
the next unit was even asking CS why ABS CBN was in our office. Haha!
Hilarious! Di naman siguro ako pang-Police Report! I brought Liza and
her crew to the ballet studio. Too bad short notice siya, or I would
have asked my students to be there too.
Today was fun. Watch TV Patrol tonight!
On Finding Real Love
He is my longest 'guy' relationship and as I have texted him last
night, I can't live without him. To most people, he MAY be brainbeam's
Admin & Finance Manager. To CS and Faith, he MAY be Bru. To Tikboy, he
MAY be 'Kapatid'. But to me, he's my Blondina, my partner in crime, my
George (as in 'My Best Friend's Wedding)and my bestest guy friend. I
spend more time with him that I do at home and I can most definitely
say, he is the 'beam' in brainbeam... THE LOVE OF MY LIFE.
Happy 35th, Bru! I love you dearly and I am so thankful God sent you
to look after me. I will be forever grateful to Him. Cheers to more
happy years together!

On Killing Time Here at the Office
I can't wait to cuddle up in bed tonight. It's been extremely hot the past week and this is just what we need. CS, Bru and I are still here at the office, waiting for the rain to die down a tad. Bru brought back some yummy breaded tofu from Cash and Carry. We are now chatting over that and C2s, while watching 24 Oras. Just saw Karylle talking about her Encantada stint. Don't really like her that much. Oh well...
We lighted our candles here at the office because of 6 annoying short circuits. We want to be prepared just in case it becomes a full blown blackout. Anyway, will start packing up.
It's Bru's birthday tomorrow! We have a surprise birthday lunch for him with some special friends of his. So excited! All for the 'love of my life'.

On One Helluva Concert
Pammy scored us Lower Box tix to the recently concluded Memories of
Love concert featuring Kevin 'Sunlight' Lettau, Lou 'What Might Have
Been' Pardini and Joe 'What Do We Mean' Pizzulo. They were awesome! Up
to now, I am still raving about the show, although they weren't able
to fill up the entire Araneta.
Funny thing, we were sitting beside this 'guy', who ended up being a
friend. His name is Jigs and he's a fab, 'colorful' creature of God.
He was with his mom. He was supposed to go with his boyfriend (yes,
boyfriend) but fought before the concert so he decided to drag his
mudra instead. He will easily win 'Name That Tune', I swear! First few
notes of the song pa lang, sinisigaw na niya ang title! Ang taray ng
lola ko! 'It' was asking us why we opted for a girls night out when
the concert was all about love and being with someone. Well, Pammy and
I had each other and it was super, duper fun sharing that moment with
her.
I am so buying Lou and Joe's CDs. They were unbelievable!!! This was
one of the highlights of my weekend. Yey!

On One Amazing Race
My favorite part was the winners' Walk to Fame where all the other teams were also present. Missed our best friends Lynn and Alex who both looked stunning and fabulous as ever, and of course "1-4-U, 1-4-Me", Brian and Greg!!! Cuz and I were drooling. Hehehe.
I'm glad U&J finally decided they're gonna have that baby! Joyce was just so brave having her hair shaved! I really admired her for that. Way to go, girl!
This group, aside from MUTT N' SLUT, were really nice people. Can't wait till the next season. Until then, I will focus my attention on American Idol. Go, Carrie!!!
On the PBA's 30th Anniversary
As you probably know by now, I am a HUGE PBA fanatic. I love Samboy Lim and the rest of the San Miguel crew. Up to now, they are still the team that I cheer for. When I was younger, I wanted to work for Vintage Sports just so I could meet The Skywalker in person.
My dream was realized when I started working for PBA Properties, Inc. in 2000, under Ms Princess Galura. I spearheaded the PBA Timeout at SM Supermalls event (at this time, still under my former agency) and it was here that I got to work with Commissioner Jun Bernardino. He is such a charismatic leader. I keep telling him that I would get him as one of my principal sponsors when I get married (Good luck to me!). Commish retired soon after but he will always remain one of my most respected and admired gentlemen of the PBA.
We invited him during the Opening Ceremonies of the PBA's 30th anniversary Photo Exhibit, which is currently running in all the SM malls nationwide. Here is the introduction I wrote just for him...
He was a collegiate player, a PBA coach, TV panelist and the league's executive director. He was someone who came from the ranks, having served under Leo Prieto, Mariano Yenko, Rudy Salud and Rey Marquez. He was the PBA commissioner most loved for his charisma and elegance. During his term, the league went thru some tough challenges including the creation of a rival league. But his leadership and foresight served as the stronghold of the PBA and since 1994, when he was Commissioner of the country's premier basketball league, he has never been forgotten. CHEERS TO MR. EMILIO "JUN" BERNARDINO, JR.
With the PBA's current commissioner, Atty. Emmanuel 'Noli' Eala, you can see me all smiles posing beside the now 'trim' and 'dashing' Commish Jun. I will never forget our first meeting when he said "Ikaw si May? Ako naman si Jun." Astig ka talaga, Commish! See you at my wedding. Hehehe.

On Paris and Nicole
Subtitle: On This Great Concept: THINK VALENTINO and PRADA!
When Cuz and I were younger, we'd always dress alike and get the same stuff. Every Christmas, our relatives would get us the same gifts, with just a variation in color or something. She's get yellows and I'd get the pinks, usually. Cuz, remember the matching nightgowns? Hahaha! We were both obsessed with Nancy Drew (Oh, Ned) and the Hardy Boys! But she ended up being the bigger bookworm, reading all these omega thick novels.
We were never really super duper close although we went to the same high school (Go, St. Scho) and she also studied in AC. I am older by just 3 months and 5 days so we're the magka-contemporary in the family. Ever since she moved to 'Pleasantville' last year, we grew much, much closer... which is actually kinda weird... but truly special. We'd text almost everyday and I make it a point to call her. We love the same movies and TV shows and take pleasure in memorizing and mimicking lines from it. Super fun!!!
When we visited her Apr 27, I was immensely happy seeing her and hanging out with her. "Oh Meredith"! Our distance made me realize how much I value her and she's been a real best friend to me.
We now have this grand plan of starting our own boutique. We love to accessorize and shop and talk about beads, and clothes and shoes and bags and all that girly stuff. Can't wait to start this venture with her. It'll be a surefire hit!
Go Paris and Nicole! Can I BE any more sentimental? Hahaha!
Thinkbit: We are actually wearing matching outfits in this picture, which was taken at a mall in Singapore. Those black Jack Russels are our attempt at doin' a Paris and Nicole. Fabulous!

On Meeting a 'Superstar'
I must say, Ja Rule is sincerely nice. Unlike Blue, who were complete
a&^%@#*&, R-U-L-E was very game during our PLDT Live Chat simulcast
over Wave 89.1. I sat beside him the whole time (Everybody saw me in
the webcast!) and he was very pleasant despite being tired from the
travel and all the activities. He kept sayin' he's married although
rumor has it that he hooked up with some chicks here in the RP.
Hmmm... Sneaky, sneaky!
PLDT MYMUSIC is featuring Ashanti next and I'm quite excited to see
her too. Wish Constantine would visit the Philippines. I will waive
our agency service fee just to sit beside him! Woohoo!

On Losing Interest in AI
I still can't believe Constantine's gone! Took this picture when I was watching that episode in Singapore. While watching AI last night, I couldn't help but miss his charming, devilish grin and mesmerizing eyes. That Scott has no business being there! Grrrrr... America supports him because almost all of America is obese! (Sorry, but that's a fact.)
Now I have no choice but to route for my favorite gal, Carrie. If she gets kicked out in favor of Anthony or Scott, then it's Valdez... OUT! Won't even bother watching the finals.

On Mouth Watering Crabs at Pagkakamay
This is how rich and HUGE the crabs are in Crustacia! We celebrated
the company's THIRD BIRTHDAY there last May 2 and Bru, CS and Tikboy
all had a blast! I'm glad they liked the food I ordered. Aside from
the Szechuan crabs, we ordered steamed fish and steamed shrimps. They give you a huge, red bib so that you can enjoy pigging out without worrying that the sauce will drip onto your clothes. They give you this small metal rod, which you can use to scrape off all the crab meat and some crab crackers to help you crush those monstrous 'sipits'. Bwahaha! Eating there is so much fun!
I already reserved a table for the family there for Mother's Day. It's
my family's turn to taste these awesome crabs! I'm sure Mama will love
it!
On Skips and Butterfly Runs
This is Jessica, Jem, BingBing and Chelsea, my four adorable
ballerinas. I teach primary class at Silid Sining every Saturday from
10 - 11:30am. Last summer, I wasn't able to teach because of my slip
disk, to the dismay of the girls. Thank God I feel much better now.
Jessica is my favorite... the little one in front. She has such
beautiful form and is also very obedient. Chelsea, the eldest, has
great potential. I even told our ballet administrator that Chelsea
should be tranferred to a more advanced class already (which I am not
fully trained to teach) since she gets bored with the primary group's
routine. But there's no available teacher yet so she's stuck with the
younger girls.
I watch in awe as they all transform from 'annoying' little girls to
pretty ballerinas. I hope that when they grow up, they'll look back
and say they've learned something valuable from my class.
If you have time, come and see us!

On Enjoying Life To The Fullest
Melina and the Merlion!
My Singapore trip was such an adventure! I had the most awesome time
with Ate Laine and Cuz. It was my first-ever international flight so
imagine the funny stories and crazy experiences I had to go thru. My
back is still killing me. Excessive window shopping can be dangerous
to my health. The Night Safari was one of the major highlights of my
trip, along with giving in to a dare to pose holding a python at
Sentosa.
I loved the food, Cuz's place, the shoes and the 'clean and green' set
up of the city. I am sure to go back to Singapore!
On Starting Over
I missed blogging! There's so many new stories to share. So here we go...
